Principle duties and essential functions The first responsibility of the Student will be to design and develop system integration tests for ADVA Optical Networking’s Ensemble Controller* product line. The second responsibility is to maintain hardware and configure test environments in the laboratory.

  • Ensemble Controller – single management platform for advanced management of Optical, Ethernet, and Sync networks
Other tasks and responsibilities
  • Work together with testers and developers in scrum teams delivering iteratively high-quality software
  • Execution and design of functional tests and non-functional tests, mainly: performance, load, and stress
  • Point out testability opportunities/barriers during design and planning sessions
  • Work on the right balance of manual and automation testing activities
  • Design and test environment setup for various test scenarios, including the configuration of various kinds of devices and simulators
  • Documentation and tracking of defects in the test/development management system
Knowledge, skills, and experience required
  • 3rd/4th-year Telecommunications, Computer Science, or similar faculty student
  • Good written and spoken English
  • Availability min 24h or more per week
  • Desire and ability to gain new knowledge
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Self-motivated, teamwork oriented. and well organized
  • Flexible, open-minded, and eager to work in a fast-changing environment
  • Knowledge of telecommunication networks, WDM area, Network Management Systems would be an advantage or willingness to learn
  • Experience in software testing methodologies would be an advantage
  • Programming skills in Python and/or Java would be an advantage
